Loving Your Body

Hello again! This post is geared towards acceptance of who you and everything about yourself. Think about it: who will love you if you don't accept yourself? NO ONE. Yes, you can be the most beautiful girl or guy in the world, yet be very unhappy and hate your life. For example, I am calling every woman out there to stop all the negative self-talk and start saying positive statements about yourself everyday! Especially when it comes to pregnancy, Jessica Simpson is pregnant again and I am so happy for her. She was criticized for her weight and call "fat"! Please you men out there try to carry a nine pound baby and give birth to it! Yeah, this is the point in time, when you are speechless. Creating life is something special and don't ever call a pregnant woman horrid names because you don't know what she's going through nor will you ever know unless your wife and girlfriend have your own child. The point I'm making is no matter what, love and accept yourself. It doesn't matter if you are short, tall, skinny, curvy, young, or old. The truth is no one will love you if you constantly talk bad about yourself and hate everything about yourself. Stop all the negative talk and begin the day with complimenting yourself on one aspect of your body! :) Just trying to keep you dedicated readers informed with what values I think are important. Thanks again for reading!

Chicago Wolves Pregame

Taken from YouTube! How awesome is this! :)

Weekday Game

Hello folks! Today is a great day because the Chicago Wolves have a home game at seven p.m. against Rockford Icehogs or a.k.a the piggies. The piggies are the minor team for the Chicago Blackhawks and no it is not a conflict of interest. Now this is another case, in which, it IS NOT ok to wear Blackhawks apparel to because I support the Wolves more than the Hawks (even if they are not playing now). Yes, I  just support the Blackhawks, but not the little piggies because it is just immoral for a Wolves fan to do that. This all goes back to the issue of not supporting the parent team and support the minor team. Again, if you didn't know the Wolves' NHL affiliate is the lame Cansucks who I've never liked and in fact, am to the point of hating them. I know "hate" is a strong word to use, but it is true. Hawks fans just don't like this team that sucks and it is how it is. Sorry if this pisses off other Wolves fans, but even if you paid me a million dollars, I STILL wouldn't support them. Mainly, it is a difference of opinion and some people may not like what you have to say. Oh well, too bad so sad. haha Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is I love Chicago and only Chicago teams! Even if I move to another state, which I don't plan on doing, this is my city and no one can tell me any different. See you at 7 p.m. Allstate Arena for a match up that should prove to be very interesting! Go Wolves and let's slaughter some piggies tonight! :) Wooooooo!

Thanks for reading! <3

Chicago's Newest and Oldest Holiday Traditions

By  | Yahoo! Contributor Network – Wed, Nov 21, 2012
Beginning with Thanksgiving and lasting through Christmas and New Year's, the holiday season in Chicago is unlike any other and full of traditions. This time of year, the city is full of cheer, fantastic light displays, and celebrations that anyone can see or attend. Don't be a grinch this year; get out and celebrate with other locals!
Caroling at 'The Bean'
Millienium Park, North Michigan Avenue and East Randolph Street, Chicago
Fridays, November 23 to December 21, 2012
This newer tradition is only going into its seventh year, but it is quickly becoming one of Chicago's favorites. Its official title is "Caroling at Cloud Gate," but as Chicago native Drew Carlson puts it, "It's called Caroling at the Bean! No one goes by Cloud Gate, and some residents probably don't even know what it refers to."
This tradition was started by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and has established itself as a must-attend Christmas activity in Chicago. You can become part of this Chicago tradition every Friday beginning November 23 and ending December 21, 2012. Caroling begins at 6 p.m. at "the bean" and lasts for about 50 minutes. You can listen or join in the singing.
Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light
57th Street and Lakeshore Drive, Chicago
November 16, 2012, to January 6, 2013
Over the last 71 years, the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) has put on one of the mostheartwarming Christmas shows. In 1942, the tradition was born when the MSI put up a single tree in honor of the allies of World War II. Over the years, it has morphed into a phenomenal show of lights, concerts, and a 45-foot Grand Tree. This massive tree is adorned with 30,000 lights and 1,000 ornaments and takes center stage in the rotunda. Surrounding this beautiful Christmas tree are 40 smaller trees that have been decorated by volunteers. Each tree embodies a different culture's tradition, which helps residents learn more about their communities and neighbors. If that doesn't sound amazing enough, then you can enjoy some of the sprinkling snow that falls occasionally or catch a concert by a school choir on the weekdays. For the weekends, ethnic groups provide song and dance.
Macy's Holiday Displays
111 N. State St., Chicago
One of the most storied Chicago traditions began at Marshall Field's in the 1870s. Marshall Fields was the first store to ever spread the love of Christmas through display. From that moment, Chicagoans and tourists came each year to see what the store had created for its holiday displays. They also set up a 45-foot Grand Tree in the Walnut Room that is decorated with 25,000 lights and 1,200 themed ornaments. While they are losing some popularity among locals since Macy's bought Marshall Field's out in 2005 and changed the name of the store, the holiday displays are still an iconic Chicago tradition.
Lincoln Park Zoo Lights
2001 N. Clark St., Chicago
November 23, 2012, to January 6, 2013
This Chicago tradition is one that I take my family to every year. For almost 20 years, the Lincoln Park Zoo has amazed residents and captivated tourists. The zoo decorates every tree with lights and sets up large holiday-themed displays. They also have a few pathways that are formed into tunnels of lights.
Beware, it does get packed, and parking is tough. The lights kick off on November 23, 2012, and run every weekend until December 26, 2012, when they will stay on every night until January 6, 2013.

First Place Bears!!!

Hello again sports fans! I've been meaning to write up this post, but it has been kind of hectic as of late. On Sunday, the Chicago Bears played the Minnesota Vikings and won 28- to -10 during regulation. What is even funnier is that the "Slackers" a.k.a. Packers lost 38- to- 10. You don't even know how much it made my day and Bears fans throughout Chicago. I wanted to celebrate with a glass of wine, no make it an entire bottle with my family and friends. I really don't care if whoever likes this lame team has something to say, i don't want to hear them. WE'RE #1!! :) There is nothing you can do about it either because your team sucks and I'm pretty sure everyone who lives in Chicago will say the same thing.

I also wanted to add another action not to take while in my awesome city. Please DON' T EVER WEAR "SLACKERS" GEAR!  I don't think I have to explain why, but I will anyways. They are horrible and can't even play football. You will get the dirtiest of looks and you might as well put a lunch bag over your head and make a shirt saying "My Team Sucks!". Now even if you happen to be my friend or pass by me on the street, don't say hi or greet me or else I will ignore you. It is just immoral and breaking Chicago ethics, so please just don't do it. Thanks for reading as always and feel free to comment. Hope you enjoyed your Tuesday!

Alternative Hats

Hello readers. Today walking to the Gage building, I saw a Detriot Red Wings hat and I was not happy. There are plenty of reasons why this is NOT ok to wear in Chicago and I will tell you why.

Reason #1: The Blackhawks

- This team, I call them the "Deadwings" are arch rivals of my hawks. Don't you dare show your face in that hat, jersey, or any other clothing items with their logo. Save yourself the embarrassment and dirty stares.

Reason #2: Most of their players are old.

- Yes, the argument can be made that older players make for a better team because of their experience level, but younger players bring speed to a team and youth. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with getting old, but not in hockey. There are exceptions when it comes to older players being faster than twenty something year old players if they happen to be in better physical shape.

Reason #3: This is CHICAGO people. Don't tell me it is ok, unless you are visiting our beautiful city and don't TAINT Chi-Town with a hat no one wants to see. Thanks.

- Ok, this one is common sense, but oftentimes common sense isn't used. People just think: I'm going to represent my city or favorite sports team when I travel. Eh, sorry, not in Chicago you're not. Go do that elsewhere please.

Warm Hats in Chicago

Today is the first day after Thanksgiving break and getting up wasn't too shabby. However, I did get half hour of sleep than I normally do and that is perfectly normal to do. Sleep is essential for college students and completed my normal routine, which includes getting ready, toasting a bagel, plugging in the coffee maker, and gathering what I need for the day's classes. After that I take a bus and the Blue Line train to Forest Park, get off at Monroe, and then walk four blocks to the Gage building. Now if I'm running late, then I'll stop at Dunkin' Donuts for a quick breakfast. Additionally, I'll get a head start before everyone gets into the Communication computer lab in GB 509 and check e-mails while sipping on my morning java. Anyways, that is what a typical day involves for me and then you can't forget the Torch meetings on Mondays and Thursdays and then commuting back to the suburbs during the late afternoon. But the typical day will vary depending upon what my planner says. I live by what that says because without it, I'd be the most dysfunctional person on the planet.

My Chicago Wolves hat
Warm hats are necessary in an average Chicago winter and what better way to stay warm and support your favorite team. As you dedicated readers know, I support mainly the Chicago Wolves and Blackhawks ( even thought there currently is no NHL season because adults on the NHL and NHLPA sides can't learn to compromise. They are acting like little children who need a to wake up and realize that US HOCKEY FANS WANT TO SEE OUR FAVORITE TEAMS PLAYING!) Getting back to the point of this point, I typically wear my Blackhawks hat, but also my Wolves hat as well. The point is to stay warm, protect those ears, and rock your favorite sport's team hat. Why not?

Bieber Photo

Hello again! Below is a photo taken from Bieber Exclusive, a blog that follows everything about the Biebs, and I thought it was kind of cool! You don't have to be a Bieber fan to like this, but the graphic is pretty cool and amazing to see! Yes, I know, I'm obsessed with him and accept that part of me!

Celebrating Regardless of Sandy

"Gjenashaj and her friends chaperoned their five young children at the concert and held up signs for the pop star. "I don't know if this makes sense. Sandy made us homeless and broke but you're our hallelujah," one sign read, borrowing lyrics from Bieber's "As Long as You Love Me" single."

http://blog.music.aol.com/2012/11/13/justin-bieber-concert-hurricane-sandy-victims/

The above quote was taken from an article where it talks about how survivors of the storm Sandy have lost their homes, but somehow managed to save their Justin Bieber tickets. It is really sweet and this serves as a reminder to be thankful for what you do have and try to help out others who don't. It doesn't have to be money or a donation of some sort, but simply time spent playing games or having a simple conversation. Extend and be greater than yourself.

Breakfast

Hello sports fans! Morning to everyone from Chicago, IL! :) Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gets your brain to wake up and the body's metabolism going as well. What happens when a person skips breakfast is they may feel groggy and tired later on and consume more food later on. Personally, when I have just a granola bar for breakfast along with a couple cups of coffee, I am hungry two hours later. The solution that works for me, even on the go or on public transportation, is to toast a whole grain bagel and put whatever you want on it. Also take a piece of fruit, whether it be a banana, apple, or pre-packaged fruit cup.

- Below is an article, in which, everyone needs to read:

- Question of the day: What is your typical breakfast on a daily basis? Does is differ on the weekends? Why?

Love and Hate Relationship

Human beings love it and hate it. It moves pretty fast and can drive people bonkers when it doesn't work right. What am I talking about here? Technology and all of its implications for a modern day society. Looking at my Yahoo! homepage, an article under the Technology section states "Consumer Reports names top 10 electronics of 2012" and then it makes me wonder why do we even need these devices to begin with. I mean really do you need a lame iphone (I am against everything Apple and in fact love my pcs and simple phone, which is an LG Saber), mp3 player, and a laptop? NO YOU DON'T! Get real ok because it gets me angry when I see homeless veterans and starving children on the streets in Chicago and I'm sure across the United States and Europe. Never mind bringing up the United States is in debt in the trillions and where are individuals getting the money to spend hundreds of dollars on new products? Please people WAKE UP. Just because you have the newest technological device, it doesn't mean you are better than everyone else. It just means you can AFFORD it when others CAN'T! The lesson here I'm trying to pass on is to care, love, and help out others. Don't hide behind your screen and buy the fanciest new "hot" item when the rest of the world is suffering from various ailments.  HAVE A HEART AND GET AWAY FROM TECHNOLOGY ONCE AND AWHILE! :) Thank you for reading and feel free to comment with any thoughts or opinions. Sorry if this sounds like another  vent. lol

Justin bieber - Never Say Never ( Lyrics )

Bears?? Really???

Hello everyone! Good morning and I don't have good news to report this morning. In Chicago, these past couple of days, it has been so windy that garbage cans and mops are getting taken away so easily. And it actually kind of funny because it is an uncontrollable force of mother nature and who knows what it will do next. But getting to the actual point of this post, the Chicago Bears didn't do so hot on Sunday night. We ended up losing 6 to 13 against the Houston Texans. I didn't watch the game because homework is more important, but I did get updates from my boyfriend while speaking with him on the phone. It's ok Bears, as long as you kick some booty next Monday! Chicago still loves you and as Justin Bieber says, "Never Say Never"!

Justin Bieber - Believe NEW [LYRICS] 2012

This is an inspiration to everyone in the world! Keep on keeping on no matter where you want to be! Dream big! I love you Bieber! <3

Living Without Sports

A weekend without sports is like a weekend without breathing. For the past two weeks, the circus has been at the Allstate Arena, therefore the Chicago Wolves haven't been playing at "home". Although having no weekend hockey games gives me time to get homework done, write my Torch articles, and spend time with my boyfriend, I do miss seeing my "Hockey Family", dancing to familiar pop music tunes, and overall having a blast without anything getting in the way. Currently, I'm listening to "Be All right" by Justin Bieber, yes, he's always on my mind. Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that sports encompasses a person's entire life, if not most of it, because it is the dedication and love us sport's fans have for our teams. Whether it is wearing the jersey of choice, yelling as loud as you can, telling off a referee when a bad penalty call is made, or simply singing at the top of your lungs whenever your favorite song is played, celebrate being a sports fans and express that fan devotion loud and proud! <3

*Question for you dedicated readers: How do you celebrate a victory for your favorite sports team?

Best DAY Ever!

Hello again sports fans! This is a bit off topic, but it is related to social media and pop culture. Yesterday Justin Bieber and the lame person Gomez broke up! Yes, finally!! I celebrated by dancing around the house in joy and singing Bieber songs at the top of my lungs. He doesn't need her especially when she is a fame hog who just wants attention. All the Bieb needs are his Beliebers (I am one of them) and his friends/ family/ team that travels with him while he is currently on his Believe Tour. I can honestly hear Bieber fans all over the world celebrating this break up. The only downside is that SHE BROKE UP WITH HIM! Therefore, I never liked her before they became a couple and no there is no way IN HELL I would ever support her now. She is on my list of "hated" people and if he is heartbroken, Beliebers will go crazy on your ass girl! You got that. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO BREAK UP WITH THE ONE AND ONLY BIEB? Please I really would go and hide your face and never come out again. Thanks.....

Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me ft. Big Sean

Bieber! <3 Whoop!

President Obama's Victory Speech at McCormick Place in Chicago

Chicago! <3 President for four more years! :)

One Month Anniversary

Hello again. I never really elaborated upon the other big event that transpired today. My boyfriend Ron and I celebrated our one month anniversary. He picked me up at a stop on the Blue line going towards O'Hare and I bought him a little something, which was licorice and Sharpie markers, because he enjoys designing and everything artistic. It is really sweet when you have a person in your life, who really cares for you, and loves you no matter what. I'm speaking to anyone out there who has a significant other, whether you are straight, gay, bisexual, or transgender (I do support gay marriage, i don't care what you guys think: everyone SHOULD HAVE the right to marry whoever they want) and just be happy with your life. Love your significant other and have open communication with him or her or even if you love an object. The point I'm making is I love him and no one else can have him. Additionally, in case you're wondering, yes Ron is the guy who was pictured with me earlier in this blog. <3

- Overall, please love the people in your life, whether they are family, friends, or a husband / wife! The world needs more love!

- Below is some inspiration:

Video for Class

This is a video I made for a media production class of mine and it is really funny. You might as well get a bowl of popcorn and a soda before watching. Enjoy sports fans! <3

Catching Up!

Hello folks! I've been kind of absent on this site and don't you worry because I'm back! :) Yesterday was a big day in the sense that it was Election Day and my boyfriend and I's one month anniversary. At 7:30 a.m. I walked to my local library to vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden with big coffee cup in hand. This was my first time voting and didn't know what to expect. However, I did ask questions and voted on the computer screen. It was pretty easy and people don't realize how important it is to vote. Obviously, the American people have spoken, a.k.a. mostly the middle class, and we wanted Obama to win the presidential election for the United States of America. Last night I did watch news coverage of the electoral votes and how won what state. Being a first time voter really opens your eyes as to how important getting your voice out there is. If you don't vote, then you have no right to complain about how OTHER people voted. I don't care if you didn't like either candidates, pick one of them in which you can TRY to relate to. Anyways, the point is voicing your opinion is important because who the president of the United States is will alter other countries as well when it comes to dealing with trade and business conducted for the betterment of everyone involved.

- Did you vote in this election? If you didn't, feel free to tell me why. Besides, we are all adults, I'm 21 and I'm sure other people can handle others' opinions.

Venting

Good morning everyone! Recently, I wrote an article about the lockout for the Chicago Wolves Booster Clubs: The Wolf Pack and it was about an update regarding the lockout. Yes, it is STILL going on! Come one people, wake up RIGHT NOW! Hockey fans want to see their favorite NHL team play with other hockey fans. So Mr. Gary Bettman, players, and NHLPA let's compromise already and get on with life!

- Question for you sports fans: How do you think the lockout could end? Feel free to share your thoughts.

Have a nice day folks!
