Howdy sports fans! It seems as if I've been posting links to the articles that have been published in the Torch a.k.a my college newspaper every week and this is just that.
- Article #1: http://www.roosevelttorch.com/sections/features/honoring-a-legend-sybil-shearer-ru-founding-faculty-member-1.2778778#.UH8Aq45uH0c

Game Time!!
Hello sports fans around the world. I just finished editing a video for a media production course and finally am getting a chance to up-date this blog. Tonight is the Chicago Wolves second home game excluding the home opener on the 13th of this month. Ironically, today is a "hockey day" because I'll be going from school straight to the arena with my boyfriend. I can't wait because there isn't a better way to end a productive day than to watch a good old fashioned hockey game. Tonight the Wolves take on the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. and odds are that it won't be a crowded game because individuals have work/ school obligations during the week to take care of. Anyways, let's go Wolves and Hawks (whenever they start playing... I still have to support them though and hopefully the rest of the Chicagoland area will do the same) Later from the Windy City! :)

Lockout Update
Reading the comments below this article on Yahoo! are brutal. Such comments are "Who cares. They boycotted me over and over and over. I'm not going to bother with them anymore. My sweaters are going up on Ebay." and "Go ahead and kill a sport that was on life support anyway". WHAT?? Go and kill the sport because it's not as popular as football or baseball?? NO. Comments such as this are ignorant and make no sense because hockey fans are everywhere ok. Please....... give me a break and stay under that rock you've been under. If you ever say "kill a sport that was on life support anyway" a.k.a hockey, don't ever talk to me because I <3 the sport and no one can tell me different. Nor will I ever be friends with someone who bashes my favorite sport. People don't understand something, in which, they have no previous knowledge about and therefore SHOULDN'T make themselves sound like uninformed individuals. Learn about a topic first before objecting judgment upon it and be a critical consumer of knowledge at the same time. Thank you......

Why????
Hello sports fans. I have no idea why this hockey referee would say such a statement in an airport, but read on for a good laugh.

Tailgating in the Rain
Hello again. I just got out of class and finally get a chance to fill you dedicated readers in on a crazy weekend from coming to Allstate Arena with my boyfriend, dancing in his car, forgetting to bring cups for drinks and having to buy them at Target, and laughing at some pretty nonsensical phrases later on in the evening. My "Hockey Family", which includes: Stephanie, Taylor, Tom, Thomas, Dawn, Ron, and myself as well as other friends of friends, all tailgated from 2 until 6:30 at night and the game finally started at 7 p.m.
When it comes to tailgating, my "Hockey Family" all pitched in to bring various drinks, food, and chairs for people to sit if they didn't want to stand. Mind you the entire time we were tailgating, it was raining and often times had to gather everyone under the tent to avoid getting drenched. After that, what happened last year happened this year, my one friend Tom leaves his tent out for the wind to take and long behold, after the game, the blue tarp that served as the covering, was completely gone and the wire framework was on the side by the highway in an angular shape. It was hilarious because he wanted to save it and lets just say, it was way way way beyond saving. Anyways, the point is that, yes, tailgating is fun, with the right weather conditions and temperature. However, I can't deny the fun time I had and in fact you have the best time when unexpected events occur (sometimes).
- Story time: Have you had a really positive or negative experience while tailgating? Feel free to share! :)
Go Wolves!!!! <3

Chicago Wolves Home Opener
Hello sports fans, specifically AHL hockey fans! This past Saturday, October 13th and 14th, were the Chicago Wolves' opening weekend and we dominated over the Rockford Icehogs. Ironically, the Icehogs or as I call them "hogs", are the minor league team for the Chicago Blackhawks. At this point, you're probably thinking, well if you support a minor team-AHL- you must support the NHL team. NO. This is not true because I am a Hawks and Wolves fan, but I don't support the "Hogs" or the lame Cansucks (Wolves NHL affiliate- when the season actually begins.......). Other hockey fans can or can't agree with me and that is fine because everyone has their own teams they support / their own opinions as well. Overall, there will be more posts about this weekend, but it was one crazy one at that and I'll explain why. But to just summarize, the Wolves won 1 to 0 in a shootout on Saturday and Sunday 5 to 3 in regulation. Yeah!!!! :) Way to go Wolves; great start to the season! :)
